the orientalist trope of this story (which was obviously not written by an Asian of any sort) made me uneasy, and the use of "Oriental" in the comments as if it's a neutral or good term makes me cringe. I'm all for non-western fantasy traditions; I would just prefer the real thing to a westerner's view of what the essence of "oriental" fantasy is.

I love Richard Parks' work, and this was no exception. A nice, cute little story- not as compelling as his Lord Yamada series, but a nice aside.

The reading was, I'm sorry to have to say, almost poor enough to make me skip it.

Gorgeous reading, great story.
It was nice to learn about the early days of Otter,
before the downward spiral of smoked-fish and ugly divorce.

I never comment, but had to. I even remembered to come here after listening to it in the car so that says something. I loved this story. It was wonderfully well written and I will listen to it again. Very nicely done. I think this is the first Oriental fable I've heard on here, but I'm relatively new so I'll have to go looking for others. Perhaps I'm just a sucker for the mythos after all.

Thanks again, very fun story and I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish.

Ah, another Oriental fable. A good listen, but whether I'll remember it in time to come is another subject.

"Error opening file" appears when I try to play this episode, and I cannot download it either. Just have to check back later, apparently. Hopefully it will get fixed soon, podcastle stories help me get through the dreary, mundane work week!
