Awesome story...
( I looked it up) I wasn't a listener to EP back then, but the vision and imagery were amazing to read. I can't wait to hear the story and let you bring her voice out futher.
If your interested in more of her work, check out her site:

Thanks

Folks:

In the interests of fairness, I'm beginning to moderate comments that are nothing but complaints against other commenters. That sort of thing gets ugly far too quickly. Let's keep this positive, or at least keep it about the podcast. Thanks very much, and I'm looking forward to April too.

I have been away from reading the posts lately...
*woosh* whats goin on?
I thanks Steve silently every week for the content on Escapepod. HIs comments and stories brighten up the dreary Ohio Days (in Winter tht is). I have been Waiting Patiently for this site...and will continue to wait. If its going to be anything like EP then YEAH!
AS far as spork goes...Well i won't go there too much banter back and forth on that already, except I will say this: Steve DOES NOT GET PAID FOR THIS. He has already Told us in EP that he was starting a new Job Recently, so give him so time.
Any Who, I did not mean to rant sorry for that Steve. IF there are those that need a fix for your fantasy until this site gets goin try:
http://www.kirkcast.com/
pretty good story.
Thanks Again All!

Okay folks. Let's not get into a pile-up here. If this goes any further into personal arguments I'm going to have to turn off comments. I don't want to do that, because asking what's up really is legitimate. Being overtly hostile about it is not, but that seems to be a minority view.

I'll say this: There is work being done on PodCastle. We have a team of volunteers. As I type this I'm in chat with two other people to nail down some production decisions and draft narrators for the first dozen stories.

When I said there will be an update soon, I meant exactly that. And here it is. The schedule for the first six weeks. It should be posted here to this blog momentarily.

Am I being unnecessarily thin-tempered? Possibly. It's been a very bad week for me. Literally the worst week of my life. That is not your problem, Spork, and the reasons for it are not related to PodCastle. But being antagonistic here does not serve your interests nor mine. It isn't going to get you content any faster, and I'm not withholding information just to be peevish.

There have been some personal failures here, and I know very clearly what they are. I didn't personally fail you, however. Being adversarial about it to this degree is unnecessary and a poor motivational tactic. You'll get an excellent fantasy podcast as soon as we can deliver one, and we'll present solid information as we can. I can't do better than that.

Spork, you sound a little to much like Willy Wonka. I would ban you for that alone, but to bitch about not getting free content? Maybe you should head down to your local library and pick up a book or two. Maybe get a few on economics and sociology, a little abnormal psychology wouldn't hurt. Remember, "Knowing is half the battle!"

Good day sir!

Spork, although it is generally my opinion that everyone is free to say what they have, I must point out a flaw in your "logic" You sir are the one that took this far too personally. First of all Steve's personal life is Not what is of question here, although he has on occasion volunteered us that information, it is noone's place but Steve's to judge how he manages his time and his life, You are the one that started pointing fingers, and you are the one that started using harsh words.

I can't force you to do anything, but I feel personally offended at your attacks at Steve, and general lack of patience, things happen, live happens, reality happens, starting up a podcast takes time. which, as I understand it, is in extremely limited quantity for many people. so I must ask you, in all sincerity, to stop directing personal attacks, you sat that steve is taking it too personally, your the one that made it personal. if you need to point fingers, blame, flame, or troll. yell at me, my podcast is far later than this one. let us wait in peace, I can only speak for myself, but I don't want to read this kind of crap, I don't need my computer to fetch me every time you feel the need to yell, blame, troll, or flame at other people.
if we can't play nice here of all paces, how can we ever consider ourselves civilized at all.

By the way, it has not escaped my attention that you had no announcement at all until you were basically forced into making one by having attention focused on this neglect. It wasn't until attention was put on those two livejournal blogs that you deigned to make an appearance here.

Why is it that you are reacting so hatefully to the very people who are forcing you to respond? Why do you have such a problem being held accountable that you respond with a threat of a ban for no valid reason?

Personal? You're offering me a refund for a free podcast, and you think I'm taking this personally? Your first reply in this thread doesn't contain any useful information, aside from a vague statement about an announcement, it's an insult directed squarely at me for having the gall to ask why you and your staff think not updating this site with information is a good idea. You're not really maintaining any high-road altitude like you think you are. Talk about the snark calling the kettle sarcastic...

It's a fact. I do, indeed, know more about your polyamorous love life than I do about the status of this podcast. That's not an ad-hominem attack, it's the Xenu's honest truth.

It's not an attack to point out that there are two other livejournal weblogs with more information about the status of this podcast, than the site erected specifically FOR this podcast. It is, once again, a fact.

You, sir, are taking this far too personally. I wonder why you have such difficulty with your mistakes being pointed out, and your silence being actively questioned. There's nothing I've written that's factually inaccurate, or an attack, yet you react with the utmost in defensiveness; threatening a pre-launch ban. I've even attempted to assist you with your hacked Wordpress, for cryin' out loud!

I'm responding to your blatant neglect, sir. Your virtual abandonment, sir. How do you honestly expect to attract new fantasy submissions with a launch "success" like this? How do you expect listeners, who have been deprived of fantasy stories on EP to stick around in the dark, indefinitely? How do you honestly expect people who have been politely requesting information to respond to being IGNORED? With a thank you note and a kiss on the cheek?

You say there's an announcement, sir. But, I'll believe it when I hear it, or read it on this site.

as a as-soon-as-I-release-podcaster I know it can be really hard to get everything up and running. and I understand that patience is important. If you can't wait for more fantasy fiction, go out and find some, go to your local library, etc. the whole point of escapepod and company (As I see it) is to provide people an easy way to get interested about genre fiction either for the first time, or as part of a life long love. it should never be your only fiction input (a crime of which I am guilty). sure steve said October, sure its well passed October, it happens. a lot. steve said soon, it will be soon. as far as blaming steve, I can only say that I am disappointed and saddened. I like to think that all people are above that. but it seems that I am wrong.

Steve, rock on, keep up the great work, and I will enjoy the wait for the duration.

I know what my failures are, Spork. I said there would be an update soon.

You've been warned about taking things personal before. You're very close to getting banned from this podcast site before it even launches.

You know you've just used a flimsy canard of a defense. I actually thought you were smarter than that. Free isn't some magic shield against valid criticism, Steve. You've. Dropped. The. Ball. Being free doesn't give you license to jerk us, and potential authors/submitters around.

Where is the communication about this podcast? You've yanked out all the fantasy from EP, but the intended podcast for fantasy has yet to materialize. I pay for this podcast with my time and attention, and quite possibly by buying the products from eventual sponsors.

Either give an update, or put fantasy back in EP.

I feel Sporks comment goes too far, this is not something we as listeners should be taking personally.

However, if it were me I would be somewhat flattered that people enjoyed my work so much that so many people were disappointed that their is not more of it.

Eagerly awaiting an update, or at least a good reason for the extremely long delay.

I think it's sad that we, as listeners, know more about Steve Eley's polyamorous love life than we do about the status of the podcast he was going to push all our fantasy into.

Isn't it amazing how people can still be leaving messages when 'admin' only ever posted on 7/5/2007.

Communication is a basic (see 95).

Think the initial page could be updated periodically? ever?

Apparently, those involved with the creation of this podcast are more concerned with dispensing information pertaining to its delays through sites not directly affiliated with this site. It is absurdly ironic that people involved with a medium of communication, the podcast, can be so bad at the basics of...communication.

I wouldn't mind the wait, except ... all the fantasy was taken away from Escape Pod months and months ago. Which means, pretty much, the most interesting part of Escape Pod is gone (the SF stories are fine, but they take on a sameness without any fantasy in the mix), but Podcastle hasn't filled in the gap.

Which is pretty much why I recently mostly gave up on Escape Pod--some of us really weren't there because we wanted all science fiction, all the time, though apparently we weren't vocal enough.

It's the mix that made it work. I'd had hopes that listening to both Escape Pod and Pseudopod I could hang on to something of the feel of that mix ... but instead we wound up with a single blander podcast tailored to a much more limited audience.

It's too bad. I miss Escape-Pod-as-it-was. Escape-Pod-as-it-is is clearly aimed at an audience other than me however. (The same audience, perhaps, that keeps trying to create "pure" science fiction magazines, even though fantasy actually has more readers?)

OK, we all know what a juggernaut Microsoft is, but do you really need to emulate them?? Announcing a target product release date, then blowing it so spectacularly (a full quarter??) with no updates is no way to engender loyalty with your intended audience. At least give us some clue as to what's going on with the site -- are you going to go live, or not?

End of January and we're STILL waiting?

Come on Steve, please come on, prove to the world that Podcastle is more than just a very nice idea.

If you need some help from your loyal listeners/subscribers then just put the call out on escapepod or pseudopod but please give us something.

My thought on the waiting is this...If I could camp out all day to be at the front of the line for Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and the Matrix opening nights...If I could stand in line for hours outside of a convention center, in the middle of an Indiana August, wearing a multilayered dress that breathes like the undead-which is to say, not at all-then this, is nothing. I harbor the same level of fanaticism for these podcasts, but at least I can chill out in front of my computer with a Mt. Dew slurpie and subtitled animes while I check to see if it's up yet.
